Awards & Recognition

“I was very much impressed with the quality of the judging panel since they were all people at the top of their fields and they gave me very good feedback on the work which I presented.”
Trevor Parsons, OOPSLA SRC

There are many tangible and intangible rewards of participating in one of ACM’s Student Research Competitions (SRCs):

Awards
The top three undergraduate and graduate winners at each SRC receive prizes of $500, $300, and $200, respectively (USD)

The top three undergraduate and graduate winners at each SRC receive an award medal and a two-year complimentary ACM membership with a subscription to ACM’s Digital Library.

The top three graduate and undergraduate Grand Finalists receive an additional $500, $300, and $200 respectively and a handsomely framed Grand Finalist certificate. They are invited to ACM's annual Awards Banquet.

Prestige
Grand Finalist and their advisors are invited to the Annual ACM Awards Banquet where they are recognized for their accomplishments, along with prestigious ACM award winners, including the winner of the Turing Award (also known as the “Nobel Prize of Computing”)

Visibility
Undergraduate and graduate SRC participants have opportunities to meet with researchers in their fields of interest, making important connections and gaining significant insights into their work. The SRC poster and presentation sessions are open to all conference attendees. The names and research abstracts of winners from all SRCs are posted on the SRC website.

Experience
All SRC participants have an exceptional opportunity to sharpen their research and communications skills in preparation for their SRC experience; these visual, organizational, and presentation skills will be of great value throughout one’s academic and working careers.
